Review of Buckden Camping, Yorkshire Dales

Buckden Campsite is set in the heart of Upper Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales. This site is set in among the rolling hills and you are surrounded by beauty whichever way you look. Camping is provided at two locations on a working farm. On the main site (where all the facilities are located) there are three camping pods and a lovely family friendly field for tents. At the time of writing this, all tent pitches have been carefully marked out to ensure there is enough room in line with the governments Covid19 guidance.

Across the road and in a opposite field is the field for campervans, caravans etc but there are only a select number of pitches. The field feels wonderfully remote, with spectacular views of the hillsides which surround you. There is a stream with several mini waterfalls directly behind the field. This is suitable for splashing and puddling, but not deep enough for a proper swim. Although the main facilities and WiFi are across the road, there are electric hook ups, plenty of access to fresh water and chemical waste points and we loved the remote, peaceful location.

The campsite is a fabulous location for walking straight off the site. The owners provide you with ordnance survey maps you can borrow which I'd definitely recommend, because it is very difficult to get a signal for maps. The staff were really welcoming and helpful and we had lots of advice about great walks in the area. Their local knowledge and experience was particularly valuable and helped us find stunning spots that we may have otherwise miss. We made the most of the stunning location and enjoyed walking the Dales.

Things we loved:
❤️ Location - perfect for walking directly from site and exploring the Dales.
❤️ Views - surrounded by rolling green hills.
❤️ Peaceful - the location feels so remote and isolated. No Wifi on the campervan field, so we fully indulged in our surroundings.

Other things to note:
➡️ There are only a handful of campervan pitches and only two pitches for caravans, so book early to avoid disappointment. I would recommend leveling blocks.
➡️ There is a small, local shop very nearby that sells some basic essentials nearby.

➡️ Campfires are not permitted, but BBQ raised off the ground are okay.
➡️ I would only recommend this site, if you want to experience the true beauty of the Yorkshire Dales.
