Everything you need to know about visiting Disneyland Paris with a campervan and your dog!

When you think about Disneyland, you probably don’t associate it with campervans and definitely don’t think about visiting with a dog. However, it is possible to do both and incorporate some Disney Magic into any European road trip.

Often you can find some good deals for Disneyland tickets online and in advance, so this is ideal if you know the exact dates you want to visit. We surprised the girls with a visit to Disney, buying the tickets online 48 hours beforehand.

Where can I park my campervan/motorhome overnight at Disneyland?

Disneyland Paris has a large Motorhome Overnight Parking area that does not (and cannot) be pre booked in advance. Currently, the actual Disney Park tickets need to be booked online in advance and on arrival at the main gates, you will be asked to show them. Then, you need to ask for the Motorhome Overnight Parking area - this is charged at 45euros a night! It is essentially a very large car park specifically for large vehicles.

Security does drive round a couple of times during the day/evening to ensure vehicles are safe and there are showers and toilets (but they are a long walk, so you must have your own toilet facilities onboard). It’s far from the most attractive park-up, but it does serve its purpose and the fact that you can just walk back to your ‘home-on-wheels’ at any point was for us definitely a huge bonus.

Can my dog come with me to Disneyland Paris?

Only assistant dogs are allowed to enter the parks at Disneyland Paris. However, there is a Pet Care Centre where you can safely leave your dog (or cat) for the day. The facilities are clean and separated into small, medium and large dog areas - they are essentially very large kennels. This facility cannot be prebooked currently and there are only 24 crates, so it is recommended that you arrive promptly at 8.00am when the centre opens to secure a place for your dog.

Food and water are provided, but you are responsible for walking and toileting your dog, (the Pet Care Centre is a 10 minute walk from the main park entrance. Day time hours are 8am-11.45pm with the cost for that at 25 euros. Overnight stays are charged at an additional 25 euros, but the centre is locked up overnight, with security patrolling the area. On arrival, you must provide your Dog’s Animal Health Certificates/EU passports. These are checked thoroughly before a dog can enter. Overall, leaving Luna somewhere cool and secure really enabled us to enjoy our day at Disneyland Paris and it is something we would do again.

How can I get the best out of my time at Disneyland, Paris?

If you are visiting Disneyland for the first time and you only intend staying for one day, then planning your itinerary will make a huge difference to how much you can see/do.

  1. Download the Disneyland App at least a few days before your arrival and start to look at the queue times. You’ll be able to start to build a picture of which rides are busiest at different times of the day and make sure you avoid those.

  2. Measure the height of your children, so you can make sure you check the height restrictions and select rides appropriate for their height. Using the app, you can filter rides based on height restrictions.

  3. Using the interactive map on the app, familiarise yourself with where certain rides are within the park/s.

  4. Use the app to check the parade and/or show times.

  5. Plan at least your first five rides. The park is always quietest during the mornings and then again much later on in the evening, but if you know where you are headed as soon as you enter the park (even without Magic hours), then you’ll be surprised how much you can fit in provided you know where you are going.

  6. If you have much older children, consider using the ‘single rider’ queues. In this event, it is unlikely you will be able to ride together as a family, but you will speed through the queues. (Generally single riders are used to fill the spaces on a ride, as most families are in groups of 3, 4, or 5.)
