Review of Waterside House Campsite

Waterside House is a beautifully situated family run Lake District campsite situated on the northern shores of Ullswater in the Lake District. The campsite is fairly large, with no set pitches and a select number of waterside pitches, which have stunning uninterrupted views of Ullswater.
We spent two nights in the ‘Manchester field’ and then when the campsite was quieter, a further night on the waterfront. We tend to prefer quieter campsites, so the last night was by far our favourite. However, we did enjoy the buzz of a ‘proper’ campsite again and it was lovely to chat (socially distanced) to some fellow campers.

Things we loved:
❤️ Location - there are so many beautiful places to explore only a walk or short drive from the campsite. Pooley Bridge is about 20 minutes walk. Here there are several pubs, beer gardens and shops. The site is an ideal base for mountain biking, walking, sailing, fishing and paddle boarding.
❤️ Views - the lakeside pitches have stunning views of Ullswater.
❤️ Family friendly vibe - lots of families were enjoying their camping trip when we visited.
❤️ Boat hire available directly from site.
❤️ Cafe on site which served a range of food options. There was also a small shop selling some essentials near reception.
❤️ The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Other things to note:
➡️ The Lakeside pitches don't have electric hook ups yet and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you want a lakeside pitch over a weekend during the summer, you'll need to arrive on a Thursday morning.
➡️ Very few EHU pitches. Most are grass without electric.
➡️ You can pitch where you like. So you can choose to be closer to the lake where it is more likely to be busy, or further back where it is quieter and more space available for children to play.
➡️Fire pits are allowed as long as fires are off the floor.
➡️Small, but well equipped playground for children.
