Review of Waterclose Meadows Campsite, Cambridgeshire

When we turned up at this campsite and spotted the tree, we knew we were in for a good weekend! Of course, I set up the hammock before anything else too!

Waterclose Medows Campsite was our first experience of camping after the first UK lockdown in 2020. Needless to say, we were anxious and unsure of what to expect, but we need not have worried! Waterclose Meadow Campsite was extremely well organised and prepared. Booking and payments were all made online. We received an extra email 24 hours before our arrival to explain the new Covid 19 procedures and upon entry to the site, all checking in was done from inside our campervan.

The shower blocks were closed after 6.30pm, so a deep and thorough clean could take place. The main doors into the toilets were always open, well ventilated and immaculately clean. Plenty of antibacterial soap was available with paper towels instead of hand dryers. Signs were on display around the site as reminders, pitches were at least 6 meters apart and there were lots of large containers of hand sanistier available around the campsite.

Things we loved:
❤️ Location - stunning grounds. Houghton Mill is a beautiful National Trust property. The campsite is also a very short walking distance from the village of Houghton, which has a lovely cosy village feel. A traditional pub and small village shop are very close nearby.
❤️ Views -the campsite is small, but perfectly formed. It had a lovely family, laid back feel, with has ample of opportunities for walking or cycling from site. It is also possible to boat or canoe along the Great River Ouse.
❤️ Very clean facilities.

Other things to note:
➡️ Tents, campervans, caravan, motorhomes and trailer tents are all welcome (max length 8 metres), but the site only has grass pitches with no hard standing! There are also a couple of pods, for those who maybe prefer a little more luxury.
➡️ Campfires are not permitted, but BBQ raised off the ground are okay.
➡️ Single night stays are available.
➡️The campsite is open from mid March to the end of October.
